Mary Ann McGrath Felts
Charlotte, NC-Mary Ann McGrath Felts of Charlotte, N.C. died June 9, 2007 at Southern Pines Retirement Community in Thomasville, Ga. Born February 2, 1930 in Savannah, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Robert O. McGrath and Anna Leonard Smith. She was married to William Allen Felts, Sr., who preceded her in death. Her stepfather, Leroy Smith, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Felts graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy and St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Savannah. She was employed as a Registered Nurse in Miami, Atlanta, and Charlotte for many years. In Charlotte she was a member of St. Gabriel’s Parrish and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of the Associate Program with the Sisters of Mercy in Belmont, N.C. In Savannah she was a member of the Daughters of Ireland.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, William Allen and Becky Felts, of Thomasville, Ga; son, Russell Claude Felts, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, William Allen Felts, III, of Atlanta, Ga.; Boone Benton Felts, of Thomasville, Ga; Johanna Rose Felts, Michael Grady Felts, and Joseph Patrick Felts, all of Charlotte, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert J., Sr. and Alieze M. McGrath; nieces Theresa McGrath Neidlinger, Ann Marie McGrath Jones, Mary Ellen McGrath Daniels and their families; nephews, Robert J. McGrath, Jr., Timothy F. McGrath, William J. McGrath, John A. McGrath, D. Christopher McGrath, Patrick M. McGrath, and their families.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Father Joseph Smith will officiate.
Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent’s Academy, 601 Liberty St., Savannah, Ga. 31401 and to Holy Angels Nursery, 6600 E. Wilkerson Blvd., Belmont, N.C. .
